So I am reading the books of Mathew and Mark (or I am having an app read it to me 🙈) and I am surprised – no delete that – I am disappointed at the reaction of Jesus’ disciples to His resurrection.
Because the scripture is being read to me, it is easy to hear Jesus say it again and again that He will die and be raised on the third day! He said it in parables (destroy this temple and I will rebuild it in 3 days) and He said it in plain English (or Jewish or Hebrew). He said it so much that the people outside of His inner circle (the disciples) heard it and believed it.
The people who killed Jesus believed it so much that they planned for it. They fortified the tomb against His resurrection while His disciples who He told these things in very plain words (Luke 8:10) were at home crying and busy doubting everyone that told them that Jesus arose.
These are my questions though: what was going on in the mind of the disciples when Jesus spoke about his death, were they even listening? It can’t be that they didn’t believe Him now can it? Because truly, He gave them every reason to believe Him, ranging from the miracle of feeding 5,000 people (excluding women and children) with 5 loaves and 2 fish (I mean, how miraculous is that?!!!) to opening blind eyes and deaf ears and wait for it… raising another person who had died and was dead for *ALL* of three days.
Why weren’t the disciples camped around the tomb of Jesus or hiding in bushes around (if they were afraid) ? How did they not invite the Pharisees, Sadducees, Roman soldiers, Pilate, everyone that was a part of His trial, sentencing, scourging, mocking and crucification to the great event of Christ’s resurrection ? Did they forget? Did they not take Christ seriously? I mean he told them o.
Anyway, there are things Christ said while on earth. They are all as valid now as they were then. Search them out and don’t carry last like the disciples did on the matter of the Resurrection of Jesus from the grave😜 An example of those words are in Mark 11:23 … *whosoever* shall say to this mountain… notice that quite a number of non believers in Jesus are literally moving mountains in our generation ba?
These thoughts have been in my head since yesterday morning. Just thought to share…
